Laptop for less then 100 USD

Researchers of Massachusetts-based University of Technology (MIT) and company MIT Media Labs claim that portable computers cheaper than 100 USD will appear on market in 2006.

Nikolas Negroponte, president of company MIT Media Labs, announced that implementation of pilot project would start next month, in the scope of which the first cheap computers would be delivered. According to his words, it is expected that five or six countries will order about 6 million computers.

Cheap computers described by Negroponte as maximally "impoverished" portable computers, equipped by operative system Linux, will be important factor in the development of not only children, but also of entire family. According to his words, that computer will be good educative tool in the developing countries.
