Telekom Austria interested in Telekom Srbija

Telekom Austria (TA) is interested in the acquisition of Telekom Srbija, the takeover bids for which have been invited by Serbian authorities, claims the Viennese economic daily newspaper Wirtschaftsblatt.

This paper says that TA has already submitted a letter of intent, which this company refused to confirm in Vienna.

Four years ago, TA and the Serbian government failed to reach an agreement on the sale of Telekom Srbija, Wirtschaftsblatt reminds.

However, the daily points out that Austrians are currently most likely to acquire Telekom Srbija, adding that they have already sent a letter of intent.

This is not confirmed officially, the paper adds and reminds that the value of Telekom Srbija in 2011 was estimated at EUR 2.2 billion, when TA offered to pay only EUR 1.1 billion for a 51% stake in the Serbian telecom firm, while the Serbian government requested to be paid EUR 1.4 billion.
TA is already active in Serbia and in case it takes over Telekom Srbija, it will have to sell its mobile operator Vip.
