Canadian – Bulgarian consortium is the new owner of TE “Negotin”

Canadian-Bulgarian consortium of “Hatch Mott Macdonald” and “Unit Fains Engineering” companies won on tender for Macedonian Thermal power station “Negotino”, as announced yesterday (August, 1st, 2007) “Energyobserver” web site.

According to their data, the winning consortium offered 61,7 millions EUR for this thermal power station and promised to build a new central plant on crude oil, gas or coal, of the power from 210 to 500 mega vats depending on Macedonian Government wishes.

The second tender for sale of thermal power station “Negotino” was finalized on July, 27th and 4 companies submitted offers by that time. The biggest price of 68 millions EUR was offered by Greek-American company “Senkap” which promised to build new thermal power stations of 600 mega vats power.

Third bidder was Austrian “Verbund”, but this company submitted only their letter of intentions, without complete tender documentation and financial offer. On the first tender that was annulated because irregularities the first runner was also Austrian company EVN which offered 20 millions EUR and building of new power plant of 790 mega vats of power. EVN company has become majority owner of Macedonian electric distribution company during the time of previous Government mandate.
