So far 20 European manufacturers have applied on tender of “Railways of Serbia” for the purchase of 1.100 wagons– contest opened until September, 27th

General Manager of “Railways of Serbia”, Milanko Sarancic, said that the deadline for submitting documentation for participation on tender for the purchase of 1.100 freight wagons was September, 27th, and that so far 20 European wagon manufacturers had bought necessary documentation.

- Realization of this deal should be started by the end of this year, and finished by the end of 2008 – said Sarancic and reminded that they secured 60 millions EUR from the loan of European bank for renovation and development for the purchase of 1.100 wagons.

By the end of this year 5 bidders should get the deal.

According to Mr Sarancic, realistic chances for participation on this tender also have domestic companies which main activity is wagon building, especially if they are participating within a consortium of some system.

- In this way, “Gosa” from Smederevska Palanka bought tender documentation – said Sarancic with a remark that several domestic factories were already involved with manufacture which was the main reason for not participating.

The tender procedure for the purchase of 1.100 freight wagons, “Railways of Serbia” started in April of this year.
