Non-binding bids invited for Telekom Srbija

The Privatization Agency has issued an open call for the submission of non-binding bids for participation in the sale process of capital of the state-owned telecom firm Telekom Srbija.

All interested entities - domestic and foreign companies, must, among other things, prove they have been rendering mobile telephony services over the past three years and had revenues from telecommunications services totaling more than EUR 500,000, or that they raised funds exceeding EUR 500 million in the last 10 years, or that the value of assets they managed at the end of 2014 amounted to minimum EUR 2 billion.
Eligible bidders are all investors who held a stake of minimum 10% in at least one telecom operator for minimum ten years with annual revenues from telecommunications services exceeding EUR 500 million in at least one year during the investment period.

Deadline to submit non-binding bids for the acquisition of Telekom Srbija is August 2nd.

The Serbian government launched an initiative on June 25th for the privatization of Telekom Srbija and entrusted the Ministry of Justice and the Privatization Agency to following this privatization process through.

Telekom Srbija's biggest shareholder is the Republic of Serbia with 58.11% of shares, 20% of shares are in the possession of the company, 14.95% are owned by the citizens, and 6.94% by employees and former employees of Telekom Srbija.

Four years ago, the estimated value of Telekom Srbija was EUR 2.2 billion, and the Serbian government then asked minimum EUR 1.4 billion for a 51-percent stake in the national telecom firm, while the only bidder - Telekom Austria, offered to pay EUR 1.1 billion for the stake in question.
