First artificial waterfall in Serbia opened in Jagodina

The first artificial waterfall in Serbia was opened last night in Jagodina. This investment, which should provide jobs for 200 people, is expected to become the biggest tourist attraction in the region.

The artifical waterfall is situated in the picnic area Potok, in the vicinity of the aqua park, Zoo, Vax Museum and Vivo Shopping Park.

Dragan Markovic, the president of the City Assembly, said at the opening ceremony that the artificial waterfall represented a real "tourist factory" that would employ 200 workers, adding that counters for selling old handicrafts to tourists were set up in front of the picnic area Potok.

Markovic reminded that 400,000 tourists had visited Jagodina in 2014, assessing that about 700,000 were expected to come to Jagodina in 2015. According to him, Jagodina has two industrial zones - one that belongs to Italians, Russians and Germans and is expected to employ 2,500 people by the year's end, and the tourist zone that should employ about 1,000 workers. He also noted that Jagodina was one of the three cities in Serbia to have registered a surplus of EUR 32 million. He voiced his expectation that the Vibag factory on 64,000 square meters would be opened between September 1 and 7 and employ 500 young people.
