Rehabilitation of 1,100 kilometers of roads in Serbia to begin by end of June

Serbia will invest EUR 400 million in the rehabilitation of 1,100 kilometers of roads, which will start in ten days at the latest, Serbian Construction, Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Zorana Mihajlovic announced today and added that designs must be completed as soon as possible, without any further delays.
About EUR 100 million for the rehabilitation of roads will be provided by the state, while three international finance institutions will contribute EUR 100 million each, Mihajlovic told the press before the meeting with road maintenance companies that will be carrying out the works. This year will see the rehabilitation of 150 kilometers in which EUR 60 million will be invested, said Mihajlovic.
As she pointed out, the meeting had to be held because works were supposed to commence about 10 days ago, but didn't because designs are not ready yet.
Putevi Srbije Acting Director Zoran Drobnjak announced that 2015 would see the rehabilitation of several roads, such as Arandjelovac-Krcevac, Rudnik-Topola, Ljubovija - Bajina Basta, Jarinje -Raska and Mrcajevci- Kraljevo. He pointed out that road rehabilitation works were about 10 days behind the schedule because some small companies had got more work to do and failed to finish designs, stressing that they must hurry now in order to commence works as soon as possible.
