Uzice offers Ponikve to the Chinese

(illustration) A construction magnate whose company employs 200,000 workers and is currently building 12 airports around the world was yesterday offered to invest in Ponikve, an airport near Uzice.
He is one of 30 businessmen from China who came to Uzice yesterday, looking for a suitable investment destination in this area. This delegation was led by Linda Wong, the president of the Ji Hao Group, who said that the Chinese would primarily like to invest in agriculture.
- A half of them are from China and the other half are from the Diaspora. One is a successful banker, the other is the owner of oil refineries, the third is building airports, some of them invest in tourism, agriculture, infrastructure - explained Justice Minister Nikola Selakovic, who deserves the credit for this visit of the Chinese business delegation to Uzice.
As Mayor Tihomir Petkovic noted, the aim is to persuade Chinese businessmen to invest here.
- We will offer them to invest in Ponikve, a duty free zone where they could build processing plants given the raw materials from Copper Mill and Impol Seval, agricultural projects and free spaces where they can start a business - Petkovic explained.
Chinese businessmen interested in Mount Zlatibor as well
Chinese businessmen are interested in tourism and agriculture development at Mount Zlatibor, but they point to the lack of road infrastructure in this area as an obstacle to fast transportation of products, Linda Wang stressed.
- Revitalization and recovery of Ponikve Airport is a precondition for the development of this area, and so is the construction of highway. We are negotiating with the management of Cajetina and Uzice, and the focus is on the airport and agricultural and tourism resources and possible cooperation in these fields - Wang said after visiting Zlatibor and attending the presentation of potentials and investment projects in this area by the management of Cajetina municipality.
She underlined that Zlatibor was an exceptional tourist destination that resembled Swiss ski resorts in the winter.
