(Dusan Vujovic) Serbian Finance Minister Dusan Vujovic said today that public finance in Serbia was heading in good direction and that austerity measures aimed at fiscal consolidation were most likely to be alleviated by the year's end.
Vujovic stated in Becici, at the Summit of Finance Ministers and Governors of Central Banks of the Region, that the budget deficit of Serbia had been at 1.6% of gross domestic product (GDP) in May, voicing his expectation that it would grow to 2% of GDP in June, that is, RSD 40 billion.

He also expects the deficit not to exceed RSD 114 billion by the year's end, although it was projected to reach RSD 191 billion, meaning that about EUR 600 million would be saved thanks to austerity measures.
