Appearing as a guest on RTS news, Minister of Economy Dušan Vujović said that good contacts had been made with all companies with whom talks had been held in Washington.
“A meeting has been agreed in Belgrade for Thursday between Serbian companies and General Electric, and that`s just one concrete result of the discussions”, declared Vujović. “This company is offering cooperation in the energy sector and in the field of equipment for medical institutions and, most importantly, they are offering collaboration in production for their systems that are found in many countries around the world.”
He pointed out that the companies they had spoken to had made some suggestions.
“For example, training for company staff, so they can be ready for an American way of working. Another thing is regulations that sometimes get in the way of employment and need sorting out, and there was also a suggestion to fix the public procurement system”.
He added that talks had also gone well with Microsoft, which plans to expand production in Serbia.
“All the companies we spoke to already work in Serbia”, he said. “Microsoft is offering expanded cooperation on the so-called Microsoft Cloud, they offer free knowledge and give Serbian companies the opportunity to take part in implementing these projects.”
The Minister of Economy says that the company KKR is interested in entering Serbia.
“KKR is already acquiring privatised companies and lifting them to new levels. They want to expand their investment and help solve the problem of bad debts. That`s a positive sign for Serbia”, says Vujović.
