Green youth of Serbia, which deals with local ecological problems, represented first "homemade" bio-diesel yesterday (July 10, 2007) in Green Club. Biodiesel is a biological fuel that is obtained by filtering oil and fat. In the past few years, bio-fuel has become dominant global subject, because it is cheaper than fossil fuels.
Milan Mitrović, the spokesperson of the Green youth of Serbia, said that the wish of young volonteers was that our country joins EU's process and to use 5.75% of bio-fuel in total consumption of fuels for vehicles prior to year 2010.
- We showed that there is an alternative for fossil fuels and that it is simple to produce. If we used the potential in Serbia, of about 600,000 ha, large number of people would be employed in that way. Also, rural areas would become much stronger and dependence of our country on fossil fuels would be decreased. It is important that the same thing that happened to Croatia does not happen to Serbia, because Croatia exports all "green" fuel produced in that country - said Mitrović.
