Warning - "BitDefender" discovered spamming "Trojan" that utilizes Hotmail and Yahoo accounts


"BitDefender", a brand of computer security software of company "Softwin", discovered a new danger in form of spamming "Trojan" that utilizes Hotmail and Yahoo e-mail accounts for sending unwanted mail (spam). "BitDefender" was the first to discover this Trojan, update virus "signatures" and send warning to the users.
As company "Direct Link", exclusive distributor of BitDefender software products for Serbian market, announced, the authors of "Trojan" named Trojan.Spammer.HotLan.A had, most probably, managed to trick the system of protection from automatic creation of new accounts, which is used on Hotmail and Yahoo services.
In that way, hackers allocated large number of accounts for their criminal needs (there were 39,591 on Hotmail and 19,043 on Yahoo on Friday at 6 AM), and they were also trying to separate about 30 GB on Gmail.
Experts from "BitDefender" have analysed the work of new Trojan and found out that Trojan accesses e-mail account on the infected computer and collects coded e-mail message, decodes it and forwards it to numerous addresses taken from some other web site.
In the current campaing, spam messages offer various pharmaceutical products.
