National campaign for registration of real estates - project worth nearly 40m EUR

- Republic Geodetic Institute (RGI) has started national campaign for registration of real estates in the unique registry – President of Commission for Coordination of Campaign, Zoran Krejović, confirmed.

At the press conference in premises of RGI, he said that the aim of the project for real estates registration was forming of unique real estates registry for the entire territory of Serbia and that 83% of 5,000 municipalities had been registered to the date.

Krejović said that the wish of the employees of that institution was to contribute to the growth of awareness of broader public of the need for registration of real estates, as well as benefits it brings to the owners, pointing out that the importance of registration of real estates could bee seen, first of all, in easier obtaining of credits and real estates transactions, as well as in legal security of private property.

- Registration of real estates is the most reliable proof of ownership, it guarantees legal security, increases market value of real estates, makes obtaining of mortgage loans and sale of real estates easier – Krejović pointed out.

International expert for real estates registries, Gerhard Mugenhuber, pointed out to importance of registration of real estates, emphasizing that the registration of real estates in Serbia was the cheapest in the region.

- RGI is a government agency that serves to the citizens, but successful registration depends on the citizens themselves – said Mugenhuber and added that the plan of RGI of Serbia was complete registration of real estates in Serbia prior to year 2010.

The project is worth nearly 40m USD, 30m USD of which were provided by the International Development Agency, within the World Bank, while the Government of Serbia set aside more than 9.5m USD for its realization.
