Electricity price to go up 8% instead of 15% - Proposal of Government to IMF is that citizens do not pay excise as for now
Proposal of the government to IMF is that as for now citizens do not pay electricity excise which would mean it would increase in price over the summer but half the planned amount, Blic finds out.
-The idea is based on the fact that fiscal results for the first four months are much better than expected and forecast. According to this plan, the Government would during June deliver to the Assembly changes to the Law on excises, i.e. it would foresee implementation of new electricity fee since this fee is in line with the process of alignment of our legislation with the European one.
However, electricity excise would stay at the zero level as for now or minimal RSD 60, i.e. 0,5 eurocents. If the mission does not accept the proposal, we would then with the excise which would be 7,5% go immediately and try to delay price increase of kilowatt until next year, the source of "Blic" close to negotiations of the Serbian authorities and Fund mission explains.
Whether new proposals of the Government will be adopted will be known May 12 when negotiations of Serbia and IMF on the first audit of the agreement which became effective in February end.
