Zagreb Stock Exchange wants to take over Ljubljana Stock Exchange
Zagreb Stock Exchange (ZSE) intends to take over Ljubljana Stock Exchange (LJSE). Citing the sources familiar with this transaction, the daily Poslovni Dnevnik reports that Vienna Stock Exchange - the owner of Ljubljana Stock Exchange - and Zagreb Stock Exchange have been negotiating a classical takeover for quite a while.
This transaction was also the subject of writing by Slovenia's daily Finance which announced Friday that ZSE was interested in LJSE because of the technology the latter was using - Xetra trading system. ZSE officials say they cannot comment on the concrete situation. However, they add that "consolidation trends are very popular in modern stock exchange operations, and Zagreb Stock Exchange is following them intensively," which gives a hint something huge is happening.
Unofficially, Slovenian financial circles say there have been speculations for quite some time now that Vienna plans on selling LJSE that was bought in 2008 for EUR 47 million.
