Export from Serbia to Japan increased by 6,7% during 2014 - Chance for increase in agriculture


During the previous year, Serbia generated export increase to Japan of some 6.7% but the value is still lower than seven million dollars, the head of the Department for Europe and overseas developed countries at the Ministry of tourism, trade and telecommunications, Zoran Malic said on Friday, April 17, 2015.
At the round table "Cooperation with Japan through investments, knowledge transfer and projects” at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, said that although the best result was generated in export in the past 10 years, it is pretty modest objective that this year at least six and a half and seven and a half million dollars is generated.
According to him, economic cooperation has been developing but it has not still reached the level we would like to see.
Malic thanked to representatives of Japan for great support and donations over the years and stated the data that within 150 projects, Japan provided support of EUR 450 m to Serbia.
He said goods exchange during previous year totaled USD 114 m which is a fall of 12% compared to 2013.
Malic said that in goods exchange, Serbia has an option to launch agricultural products, primarily berry fruit and organic products.
He said Japanese companies are interested in strengthening their position in Serbia and added that last year, number of Japanese tourists who visited Serbia increased.
Donations of Japan over the years were mainly in the field of electricity, public transport, health, social services, agriculture and environmental protection.
