ANTIC: The first revision of agreement with IMF scheduled May 4-19

The Mission of the international monetary fund, IMF, will in the period May, 4-19 carry out the first audit of the agreement with Serbia, the minister of mining and energy, Aleksandar Antic, has said today.

He said to journalists that a number of preparation meetings for the first audit of the agreement with IMF, World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has been in progress and that they have been discussing that electricity increase is as low as possible and to start as later as possible.

Antic said the Government is trying to find a balance between the facts there are requests of IMF and financial institution to increase electricity prices and commitment to take into an account social and economic situation in Serbia.

The minister defined that the Government and the prime minister and the Ministry of mining and energy are putting maximal efforts in talks with IMF with respect to dates related to electricity price increase deadline extension and on the other hand that the number of measures which should lead to optimization of business policy at the Electric Power Industry of these price corrections are as low as possible.
