IKEA furniture has already been produced in Serbia - Standard Furniture in 2014 sold goods totalling EUR 3,5 m

(Standard Prnjavor, BiH) Companies for furniture production, Standard Furniture Serbia from Cuprija and Bosnian Standard from Prnjavor, launch their products at the world market through their partner, Swedish IKEA. In 2014, Standard Furniture Serbia sold IKEA million products totaling EUR 3,5 m, and the company from Bosnia and Herzegovina 700.000 items totaling EUR 13,5 m.

Both companies are mainly owned by Swiss Daccomet AG whose owner is Edin Dacic.

When he was five, Edin Dacic left former Yugoslavia with his family and moved to Switzerland where he finished school and studied political economy. Although still a student, he borrowed money from his parents with a promise he will finish his faculty and in 1990 in Zurich, he set up Daccomet AG.

(Standard Furniture Serbia) During 1999, he started travelling Bosnia and Herzegovina with an intention to find a partner, i.e. industrial companies with perspective of export and development. Through mutual partner, he met IKEA which had alreday been attractive in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In his interview for eKapija, Edin Dacic, reveals how cooperation with world company IKEA influenced business of his companies.

- Due to presence at global market, we have huge pressure on quality, prices and growth as well as on rigorous compliance with all environmental, safety, technological and social regulations. On the other hand, potentials for growth and especially development on all mentioned fields are huge since IKEA shares knowledge and experience with suppliers and thus contributes their development- Edin Dacic says.

Former SZR Jasen-Lukic, and today Standard Furniture Serbia started cooperation with Swedish IKEA in 2004.


(Standard BiH) During 2007, with mutual investment of Serbian and Swedish company, the plant forf production kitchen boards (LAMPLIG chopping board) was made. The investment contributed production scope increase as well as new hires.

In 2011, with his company, Daccomet AG, Edin Dacic 2011 took over majority stake at Standard Furniture and in less than two years he poured EUR 1 m and increased headcount from 15 to 200.

Despite successful company operations whose production program is based on products made of massive wood and briquettes production, economic crisis during the last years disturbed their plans.

(Standard Furniture Serbia) The plant in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Standard was the first to start cooperation with IKEA company in 2000 and its production portfolio comprises veneer furniture with massive elements. Now, 84,5% shares of this company is owned by Daccomet AG.

Dacic adds that economic crisis consequences can facilitate business circumstances. Availability of workforce which really wants to work in crisis is greater.

(Standard Furniture Serbia) Dacic is explaining that in Bosnia and Herzegovina, on an investment project totaling EUR 4 m which should have provided 250 hires, they worked for longer than a year but they had to reduce it due to workforce lack.

When he is speaking about further plans , Edin Dacic says that in both companies they are working on development of new items and planning in this year to expand product range. Based on previously agreed orders, they expect turnover increase of 10%. Standard Furniture Serbia is planning this year to finish the investment they started in increase in drying capacity and in a month or two they will decide whether they will pour in Prnjavor-based Standard a million euros in expansion of technical varnishing options and thus in hires increase.
