Reconstruction of railroad at the Sopot Kosmajski-Kovacevac section starts April 6
Railroad reconstruction at the Sopot Kosmajski-Kovacevac section is starting April 6 and all the works will end in 128 working days latest, Zeleznice Srbije announced.
Belgrade-based branch office of RZD International is in charge for the main works in line with the project of the CIP Traffic Institute.
In the next period, Zeleznice Srbije are planning to, at the railroad Beograd - Mladenovac - Nis - Presevo – border crossing, reconstruct construction and electrical and technical infrastructure between stations Sopot Kosmajski and Kovacevac, including passing tracks and turnarounds at stations Sopot Kosmajski, Vlasko Polje and Mladenovac.
The works comprise reconstruction of nine railroad crossings as well as rehabilitation of contact network, signal and security and telegraph and phone equipment.
With the unique Annex 2.1 of the basic Contract, totaling RSD 48,7 m, reconstruction of 65.731 km of railroads at Corridor 10 will be funded, 18.389 km of which at the Sopot Kosmajski – Kovacevac section. These funds were provided from the part of the state-owned loan of the Russian Federation with participation of the Zeleznice Srbije, totaling 15%.
Material for construction of upper layer of railroad has already been procured, totaling EUR 3,9 m and it was funded through the loan of EBRD. The works are planned as a continuation of the reconstruction of the Belgrade- Mladenovac – Nis - Presevo – border crossing railroad.
