The Prime Minister of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, has announced today that salaries and pension increase is possible during this year which is what he will be discussed in the next days with IMF representatives.

-The results show we have funds to afford it but we do not want to breach the agreement with IMF and therefore we want to discuss it with them- Vucic said to journalists in break of the regional conference "Businessmen" in Belgrade.

He did not want to speak about the details of pensions and salaries increase and whether they would be aligned with inflation. Salaries and pensions decreased in November last year.

-If we continue success, salaries and pensions increase is possible i.e. if March ends in the way we are planning and if we had the second and third quarter successful, in a few days we will ask IMF and the World Bank to increase salaries and pensions to people in Serbia who paid high price of the savings measures – Vucic said.

Serbian Prime Minister outlined he does not want to collect political points for increase in salaries and pensions but that it is about economic indicators unlike previous governments which did it for populism.
