Tender announced for sale of Yugoslav river shipping company

Privatization Agency of Serbia announced tender yesterday (June 11, 2007) for sale of 70% of assets of Belgrade-based company for domestic and international river traffic, Yugoslav River Shipping (JRB).
According to the tender, the tender documentation can be bought at price of 6,000 EUR, and the deadline for delivery of binding offers is August 3rd. The right to participate in the tender have all bidders who deal with river transportation, services related to river or lake transportation, or construction and repair of ships, for at least three years, with the business income of at least 20m EUR in 2006.
According to the information provided by privatization advisor, JRB owns 16 freight ships, two tugboats, three passenger ships, two floating workshops and 130 barges for transport of dry and liquid cargo. Last year, JRB, which is the fourth largest company for river transportation in the lower course of the Danube, transported total of 1.3m tons of goods and realized income of 12.2m EUR and profit of 305,000 EUR.
JRB employs 621 workers whose average monthly salary is about 288 EUR. Serbian businessman and the owner of Cypriot company "East Point", Zoran Drakulić, stated before, after the purchase of Austrian river transportation company DDSG, that he was interested in buying Yugoslav river shipping company.
