Married couples whose wedding cost EUR 15,000 or more have a four times bigger chance of getting divorced than the newlyweds who spent between 4 and 8 thousand euros on the wedding.

According to the website of BFM Business, a U.S. university survey has showed that those couples whose wedding cost below EUR 800 usually stay together the longest.

Americans spend USD 5,855 on average on the wedding ring, about USD 14,000 on the space for wedding celebration, USD 68 on the food and drinks per guest, and USD 3,587 on the band, show the results of a poll conducted by TheKnot agency among 16,000 couples married in 2014.

The French spent half as much money on weddings as Americans do, Slate magazine reports.

According to a survey conducted in 2012 among 1,014 couples by the agency Opinion Way, French newlyweds give most money for the celebration, wedding space, music band, food and drinks, about EUR 6,000 on average, while wedding dresses that French brides pick usually cost between 800 and 2,000 euro.
