Wellness tourism brings about over two million new jobs

Development of wellness tourism in 2013 alone brought about over two million new jobs and revenues of USD 40 billion globally, whereas the number of wellness tourists in Europe grew 12% that year.

Leading countries in this segment are Germany, France, Austria and Switzerland, it was stressed at the International Conference on Medical Tourism which was held in Krapinske Toplice between March 12 and 14, the daily Poslovni Dnevnik reports.

At the conference which brought together over 250 participants, Iztok Altbauer, the president of the Association of Slovenian Natural Spas, said that Slovenia was successful at attracting wellness tourists owing to a number of factors, adding that, by all criteria, Croatia should have equal success in this market segment.
