Fiat has done in Europe?
Fiat will never again be competitive at the European mass
market as it used to be – the head of the Italian company, Sergio Marchionne,
says.
According to him, the change fits into the strategic plan and company’s focus
on profit.
All leading German car producers, Aud,
BMW and Mercedes- Benz , sold last year more than Fiat in Europe while Skoda
almost equaled with Fiat cars, Automotive news Europe portal reports.
When it comes to scope of mass car production, Fiat no longer offers and is not planning to
offer a full range of products such as other mass producers. Fiat will lose its
position as the general brand but it will focus on what it does best – Marchionne
said at this year’s fair of cars in Geneva.
Automotive news Europe says Marchionne gradually downsized Fiat product range to focus on smaller vehicles such as "panda" and vehicles from the "500" family, "500 hatchback", "500L minivan" and "500X crossover" among them.
Replacement which has been delayed for a long time for compact model "bravo" has now been announced for 2016 and will be produced in Turkey. In the meantime, old "punto" should next year be replaced with a new member from "500" family.
