New flesh furnace at RTB Bor put into operation

On Thursday, at the Mining and smelter basin Bor, new flesh furnace was put into operation which officially released new metallurgy departments.

New smelter and the plant for suplphure acid have been built for three years and they should on the one hand provide higher profit at RTB Bor and on the other clean air in Bor and its environment.

-New technology uses suplphur from concentrate as the main element for burning so there will no longer be coal consumption as it was in the old smelter – Spakovski said.

He outlined that apart from environmental component, economic one will be aligned as well.

Thanks to new facilities, profit at RTB Bor will increase at first for USD 12 m per year while imported copper is also smelted apart from the local one.

In two years, when production in Bor-based mines reaches planned level to completely fulfill capacity of smelter, profit will increase by USD 24 m per year.

New smelting furnace will be heated for three weeks and the first anode in line with the plan will be produced March 28.
