Altis Filipus from Thessaloniki buys in Serbia 150 to 200 tons of char and the needs of Greek partners are greater and they are ready to fund a part of production in advance.
However, despite the fact they pay entire delivery at 24 eurocents per kilogram which is 30% more than the average price, Altis Filipus finds it difficult to get to this raw material in Serbia and faces frauds often.
- The biggest problem is that we cannot provide sufficient quantities and constant delivery because producers often breach agreement. Apart from that, deliveries very often contain inappropriate goods, char full of dust, even wood - Milos Tadic, owner of Expres kargo from Cacak, which supplies for the needs of the Greeks says for Tanjug.
He says it currently supplies char in Ivanjica region and that they need large quantities.
- We are looking for serious producers which will stick to agreed time of deliveries and wanted quantities. Greek partners are even ready to fund a part of production in advance but unfortunately in this country it is difficult to find serious people. It is not understandable having in mind that many families could make for living out of this business – Tadic adds.
According to him, the Greeks need 20 cars of char in March.
Char is used in Greece in large quantities, especially in the summer season, in catering.
Mountain and forest regions of west and southwest Serbia has great conditions for char production but this business opportunity is not well exploited.
