Slovenian MIP bought majority share in Novi Sad-based company "Kolbis"

Slovenian food company "Mesna industrija Primorske" (MIP) has bought majority share in Serbian meat-packing company "Kolbis" from Novi Sad, intending to, as it announced, benefit from the new customs union that is going to be founded in southeast Europe.

The Union, as Slovenian Agency STA announces, should encompass Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia and Moldova.

Purchase of the majority share in "Kolbisu", the price of which is not stated, represents only MIP’s first step towards acquiring strongpoint on the markets of these countries, where it plans to launch its and "Kolbis’" products. One part of the products that MIP intends to export to the aforementioned countries will be produced in "Kolbis", of which production program is compatible with the products of MIP.

"Kolbis" is one of five Serbian meat-packing companies that were approved permits for export to European Union. By the way, MIP is the most famous in Slovenia by production of smoked ham.
