Lames pays penalties totalling EUR 222.000 - Sremska Mitrovica provides deadline to Italian company by March 31
Three years ago, Lames got 5,2 ha of land in the North working zone from the town for the plant construction. The plant will be finished this spring and Lames has still been working in rented sections where less than promised 225 employees will be hired.
The mayor of Sremska Mitrovica, Branislav Nedimovic, says the town supports investments and for promised 225 employees they gave to the Italians free land but support to investors cannot be damage for the work so now Lames will pay penalties where a special protocol was made on.
- Based on the form from the Fund for pension and disabled insurance, it is clear Lames did not hire 225 people but 130, 140 people and it will pay for those difference penalties to the city budget. Deadline is March 31 and the city tool the security asset to compensate payment automatically if Lames does not finish its commitments within deadline- the mayor Nedimovic says.
Apart from obligation to pay penalties, Lames remains in Mitrovica, it will soon finish the plant on the land provided and it will provide opportunities for new hires depending on the needs of buyers at the world market.
