The first stage of EPS corporatization will last until July this year with an objective to become a shareholder company in stages, by July 1, 2016, Aleksandar Obradovic, GM at the Electric Power Industry of Serbia (EPS) during today’s visit of the headquarters of the Mine Basin Kolubara in Lazarevac, EPS announced.

Obradovic discussed with the company management and trade unions the start of the company corporatization process.

As Obradovic outlined, this is the first one in line of the meetings with representatives of all companies within EPS. After the Government of Serbia late last year made conclusions on new statutory changes in the company, new chapter in Serbian electric power industry started.

- The essence of the corporatization process is that now everybody within EPS make one team now. Effort of all the staff in the company within the system, through taking over the responsibility and efficiency increase, we will be prepared for turbulent period for Serbian electrical industry at the electrical energy market. Company corporatization through centralization and managerial processes improvement is of our mutual interest. EPS must remain unique and strong a company so that there would be no space for splitting the company and with the basic objective that EPS remains a state-owned company as the most vital state resource. Through company centralization and managerial processes improvement, we will succeed in making more efficient, more competent and better organized company - Obradovic said.

Obradovic explained that it is extremely important that all managerial levels participate in internal communication so that they would provide ideas and guidelines for potential savings and efficiency increase. As it was outlined at the meeting, mining is vital branch of EPS and the Mine Basin Kolubara, as the biggest coal producer in the country is of extreme importance for maintaining electrical and energy security and independency.
