Arabs support few development projects in Sandzak

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is going to support several large regional and local projects to help the development of Novi Pazar and Sandzak regions, it was said Tuesday, after UAE Ambassador to Serbia Juma Rashid Saif Zayed Al Dhaheri and Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Rasim Ljajic visited Novi Pazar.

- Improved bilateral relations between Serbia and the UAE will result in new economic prospects for the city of Novi Pazar and the whole region - said Ljajic, who stressed that the conversion of military airport in Ladjevci into a civil one was one of the most important projects in that region.

He pointed out that the biggest individual aid of EUR 10 million for flooded areas in Serbia had come from the Emirates.

Ljajic underlined that it was the UAE's investment that should contribute to the new economic and social chapter of Novi Pazar.

Novi Pazar Mayor Meho Mahmutovic said that guests from the UAE were introduced to the economic, political and social situation in the city.

- I hope that the city of Novi Pazar will get concrete investment support from the United Arab Emirates by the year's end - said Mahmutovic.
