Serbia is not using sufficiently the option to export to Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Armenia, the economist of the Institute for market research, Sasa Djogovic, says.

According to him, Serbia could export furniture or Ikarbus buses in some of these countries. As he said, with Azerbaijan, there is also a strategic partnership and with Kazakhstan through the Russian Federation we have Agreement on free trade.

These are mainly centralized countries, Djogovic reminds, so the best is that the approach to their markets starts from governmental level.

According to him, Azerbaijan or Turkey could mediate in penetration at the market in Turkmenistan. The Government of Serbia and the Serbian Chamber of Commerce should, as he added, spot which products and services we could launch there. The same goes for projects which could be interesting in these countries.

- For instance, in the field of tourism, the resource ministry would have to be active and to offer projects for capacity development in Stara planina, marine construction at the Danube – Djogovic said.

He said that the market of Iran has also been neglected and that in that case more direct market approach is needed as well as that penetration to the African market is not sufficient.
