"Zastava’s" arms in Armenia

Within next ten days, the State will finally issue the permit to Kragujevac-based factory “Zastava Arms” for export to Armenia. All oral concords have been obtained and the only thing that is left is the administrative procedure of exchange of documents between the ministries, which should be followed by export worth 900,000 USD to Armenia.

- After the troubles with export to Armenia, the name of the country with which military industry does business should never be mentioned in public again – said the people from "Zastava Arms". The Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Internal Affairs came to the agreement and the management of "Zastava Arms" has repeated the request for export of the second shipment to Armenia.

- I expect that, within next ten days, we will have permit that will contribute to additional improvement of the financial situation in the factory – said Dragoljub Grujović, the Manager of the factory.

The delivery should start in few weeks, after all permits for realization of export are provided. Grujović said that the business arrangement with Armenia has always been regular and that there are no sanctions of any kind.

Even the OSCE regulation, passed 14 years ago, was revoked in February 2007. Also, Russia has nothing against the export of arms to Armenia. The arms produced in Kragujevac-based factory are of defensive type, not offensive, and it serves for equipping of police forces of certain countries.
