Hemofarm generates record production in 2014- Pharmaceutical company announces investments of EUR 22 million

For pharmaceutical company Hemofarm, last year was a record one – the company produced 200 million packages and 4 billion tablets. With an increase of 15 %, Hemofarm expanded its portfolio to more than 2.000 products. Two new products have been added to the existing offer for EU market.

This year, Hemofarm is celebrating 55 years of existence and is planning to pour EUR 22 m including capacity extension through opening new production department in Vrsac.

Apart from other things, the company is planning new investments into expansion of capacity of ampule forms in Vrsac and multimillion investment in nasal sprays production department in Podgorica-based plant.

Dejan Ivanovic, Production Manager said Hemofarm is planning to put into operation the department of sterile, injection forms. Ivanovic says that the construction part of the project has been comleted and that the section will start functioning in March or April latest.

Ivanovic said that some 70% of product is exported to the European market which is enabled with European Good Manufacturing Practice certificate which is supervised by German inspectorate Darmstadt.

- Since we take care about the health of people, our effort to deliver to all citizens high quality and safe products was confirmed by 26 domestic and international inspections in our plants in Serbia, Montenegro and the Republic of Srpska - Dejan Ivanovic, Production Manager at Hemofarm said to journalists and outlined the company is the only producer at our market of highly demanding sterile forms of products and among 5 biggest producers of infusion emulsions in Europe.

GM at Hemofarm, Ronald Seeliger, said they are now starting production of new item in Montenegro, they are investing in quality management and they are working on centralization of the part of production in Vrsac.

After touring the plant in Vrsac, he said to journalists that some EUR 22 m will not be poured only in machines and production departments but in product development and non-material goods.

At the end, Seeliger outlined the importance of socially responsible business for Vrsac-based company. Thus, Hemofarm will donate the funds for rehabilitation of the urgent medicine center and organize auction of pictures to collect funds for further rehabilitation of the kids’theatre Bosko Buha with the donation of EUR 30.000.
