LAZOVIC: There is interest of foreign investors in Serbia

Serbian market has still been in the focus of foreign investors, Srdjan Lazovic, VP of the Board of Directors at the Foreign investors Council in Serbia estimated.

- It is a fact that perhaps the level of foreign investments is not as it was before the economic crisis, for instance in the period from 2005 to 2007 which is logical, having in mind crisis with EU which Serbia pretty much relies on. On the other hand, we have the chance to see that invetors are coming every day, they ask bout terms and investing environment in Serbia. I will number a few examples. We had an example of Ferrero, these days we have had Esmark which has been negotiating privatization of Smederevo-based Zelezara, German meat industry concern, Tonnies... However, it is what really matters trudimo da svakodnevno unapređujemo privredni ambijent since it is the only way to attract foreign investors – Lazovic estimated in his interview for Al Jazeera Balkans.

When asked what business environment in Serbia is, Lazovic answered it is much better than before.

He said foreign investors expect from the Government of Serbia further steps in fight against grey economy, estimating that it is the problem of the entire region as well as decrease of bureaucracy obstacles which as such decrease investment environment transparency.
