VUCIC: I will be happy the moment the Americans come

The Prime Minister of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, says he is very satisfied with the Esmark’s offer for strategic partnership with Smederevo-based Zelezara.

However, Vucic said he will be happy the moment when the contract is signed and when representatives of the American company come to Smederevo.

When asked how they knew how many offers were there at the tender, Vucic said it is simple to find out since the one who wanted to participate at the tender had to pay EUR 100.000 to the account of the Republic of Serbia, i.e. to the NBS account.

In his addressing "to the ignorant ones" who wonder why Serbia is taking over liabilities of Zelezara, Vucic said: "St. Peter is going to take them over, right? What do you want? Do you want us to close Zelezara, to lock everything and to have nobody working nowhere? I am sick of that hypocrisy and lies.”

He added Serbia did it for more than 5000 employees, because this way it increases country’s GDP and because it means production boost, growth and health of Serbian economy.

Vucic said that he even sent to EU representatives a message of how important the issue of Zelezara is for Serbia and he believes they will have understanding.
