Railways of Serbia paid Russians USD 7,3 for participation in Corridor 10 modernization

The Railways of Serbia (Zeleznice Srbije) paid USD 7, 3 m to Russian company, RZD International as participation of Serbia in modernization of three sections at Corridor 10, Zeleznice Srbije announced today.
Modernization of three sections at Corridor 10, Golubinci-Ruma, Sopot Kosmajski-Kovacevac,
Mala Krsna-Velika Plana, is funded from the Russian governmental loan and
Serbia provides 15% of funds.
Total sections length is 66 km and the project totals USD 48,7 m.
With the payment of funds to the Russian state-owned railways, works at the
three sections at Corridor 10 can start, the Railways of Serbia outlined.
RZD International is a daughter company of the Russian state-owned railways in
charge of the implementation of the Russian state-owned loan for Serbian
railways modernization.
The Railways of Serbia and RZD signed October 16 this year, in the presence of
the highest officials Serbia and Russia, contract on reconstruction of three
sections of the trans-European railway Corridor 10.
Between Ruma and Golubinci, today trains operate at the speed of 30 km per
hour, Mala Krsna-Velika Plana ans Sopot
Kosmajski-Kovacevac at between 30 and 50 km per hour.
After completion of construction and electrical works on the sections, as announced,
trains will be able to operate with the speed of up to 120 km per hour.
