The longest railroad in the world and the first direct line between China and Sain has been put into operation after the train which set out to travel from a Chinese town Yiwu, ended its journey of 13.053 km in Madrid.
Before it arrived to Madrid station for Abronjigal freight trains, on its route the train passed Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Germany and France, British Guardian writes.
- The open railroad is in fact the road of silk of 21st century,- Governor of Chinese province, Dzedjien, where Yiwu town is, Li Cheng has said recently.
The trains with 30 wagons transported 1.400 tons of load, mainly toys, school equipment and other things for sale during Christmas holidays Europe-wide.
For the Chinese New Year, the train will return to China when it will transport wine, ham and olive oil, the Chinese ambassador in Spain said.
After EU, China is the biggest Spain’s trading partner with exchange of 16 billion pounds (EUR 20,24 billion).
The main advantage of this railroad line is speed, since it took only three weeks for a journey instead of six as in case of nautical transport. This railroad line is more environmental-friendly than road travelling since train generates 44 tons of carbon-dioxide (CO2), compared to 114 tons of CO2 the road traffic would generate for the same quantity of goods.
