Swedish standard in Banat - A total of EUR 26 m for regional waste management center
A two-year cooperation of experts from the Jevle city in Sweeden and ecologists in Zrenjanin and neighboring municipalities Zitiste and Secanj, resulted in project for set up of the Regional waste management center.
-We set up the platform for regional cooperation and systematic approach in problem-shooting in waste management. It implies collection, sorting and disposal. We transferred knowledge and experience of Swedish companies to Serbian partners successfully - Tomas Nilung, the head of the Regional Waste Management Center in Jevle, said upon his visit to Swedish delegation to Zrenjanin.
Participation of representatives of this Swedish town in the project came as a result of cooperation between the Swedish Association of local and regional authorities (SALAR) and our Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM). The project totals EUR 26 m and EU provided more than 85%. Practically, everything is ready for the construction of the Regional waste management center in Zrenjanin landfill and apart from Zitiste and Secanj, Titel and Kovacica municipalities are expected to participate in the project as well.
