Serbian-Russian talks about South Stream – Nikolic talked to Putin, Vucic with Medvedev

Serbian President, Tomislav Nikolic, talked last night with the president of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, who provided details with respect to South Stream gas pipeline and gas pipeline which will go through Turkey.

- In the discussion initiated by the Russian president which was very friendly and warn atmosphere and lasted more than 40 minutes, president Nikolic explained to his collocutor how South Stream halt would affect energy stability of Serbia and expressed hope that the decision is not final yet – the press service of the president of the Republic communicated.

Nikolic informed president of the Russian Federation about the gas quantities essential for Serbia and that it would be good to implement Tolling system. He said Serbia is fond of Russian Federation and outlined that friends never punish themselves, especially not in crisis times, it was stated in the announcement.

Two presidents discussed other topics as well, such as Petrohemija project and Nikolic asked to provide gas supplying for chemical industry in Serbia at favorable prices, it was outlined.

The Prime Minister, Aleksandar Vucic, had a phone conversation about the South Stream gas pipeline with the President of the Russian Government, Dmitri Medvedev, who stated insufficient cooperation of EU countries as a reason of the decision to halt the project.

Vucic and Medvedev discussed development of chemical complex, agricultural and food production and trade, it was stated in the announcement of the Government of Serbia.
