MILETIC: Agreement with IMF means more investments

New three-year engagement of Serbia with IMF will contribute to increase in competitiveness and progress of Serbian economy as well as to higher investments inflow, the acting president of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, Milivoje Miletic said.


-I think this agreement has that function since it will additionally motivate partners to invest in Serbia so that this way technological level of our plants and competitiveness level would increase - Miletic said for journalists at SCC.

After two-week talks, Serbia and IMF agreed on a new three-year agreement which will imply the options of withdrawal of a billion euros if necessary and it would become effective as of January 1, 2015. During the past 15 years, Serbia had three agreements with IMF: 2001, 2004. stand-by agreement and in 2009 precautionary stand-by agreement

IMF mission officially visited Serbia last time February 26-March this year.

The agreement of Serbia and IMF was signed in late September 2011 and it was halted February next year since the budget for 2012 changed compared to fiscal program.
