Will LPG dissapear from the Serbian market?

Representatives of the regionalCEFTA association for LPG said on Friday, November 21, 2014, at the end of athree-day conference in Belgrade their worries due to high and even higher fuelprices in Serbia which threatens to disappear from the market totally.

President of the Association, Josip Kelemen, announced November 12, LPG priceper liter in Serbia totaled 0,74 EUR, andin Croatia EUR 0,56, so that the pricein Serbia would increase to 0,80 EUR, and in Croatia it decreased to EUR 0,41.

At the press conference, it was estimated that it is the case for the fact thatSerbia is among five European countries with the biggest excise and fees.

Kelemen reminded Serbia used to be a leader in the West Balkans with more than 400.000vehicles which used LPG and consumption of 380.000 tons but that consumption decreaseson daily basis since the price grows and it is nearing diesel and gasolineprice.

In eight months this year, according to him, that fuel consumption decreased by12%, and in 10 months 19% compared to the same period last year, so most likelymore than 1500 services in the country will shut down.

Representatives of the Alliance said that LPG price is burdened with some otherfees such as fees for commodities and compulsory fees at the entrance to thecountry and warned authorities to consider the option to decrease price.
