First operations of "Telenor foundation" in Serbia – special attention to children

Company "Telenor" announced yesterday (April 23, 2007) the commencement of work of "Telenor foundation", which means that this company begins implementation of its concept of corporate social responsibility in Serbia, just like everywhere in the world.

In the initial period, the work of the Foundation will be directed to the projects and activities that offer effective, sustainable and developing solutions in field of education, culture and art, as well as help to socially endangered groups.

- The projects will be implemented on the territory of whole Serbia and the special attention will be given to undeveloped local communities and youth – the representatives of company "Telenor" and the members of the Administrative Board of the Foundation announced.

The rector of the University in Belgrade, Branko Kovačević, said that the creation of the system of values, which would result in appreciation of knowledge and work, was the basic idea and reason for founding of the Foundation. It will make it possible for students to have practice in company "Telenor", both in Serbia and abroad.

The expert of the UN Committee for Children’s Rights, Nevena Vučković Šahović, stated that "Telenor Foundation" would give special attention to the help to the children with special needs and the children without parents, as well as to the provision of permanent lodging for the homeless children.
