Excise on electricity and soft drinks - Governmnet is preparing new fees

The Government of Serbia prepared the draft of the law which implies excise on electricity and all soft drinks except from mineral waters, Blic finds out exclusively.
Electricity excise which exists in majority of EU countries, should be charged as
of April next year, after heating season ends. It has not been decided yet how
much this sum will total which is to be implemented instead of classical
electricity price increase announced in the spring but it should range 10 -
15%.
This way, the sources of Blic from the Government claim, regular inflow to
budget from electricity consumption would be provided since EPS or any other
electricity dealer would be obliged to pay fees to budget immediately after
invoiced electricity consumption.
When it comes to soft drinks, apart from carbonated and non-carbonated water, excise of one or two dinars per liter was planned. Excise will go even for non-carbonated water with lemon. This fee would be charged as of New Year.
The Electric Power Industry of Serbia (EPS) was not officially informed on the option of electricity excise introduction, they said on Friday (November 21, 2014) for Beta agency.
They added it is the responsibility of the Government of Serbia, EPS does not decide on it.
