Contract signed by Vranje-based ”Vodovod” and company ”Srbija vode” worth 550 million CSD indicates completion of works on accumulation ”Prvonek”

Recent signing of the contract worth 550 million CSD, between Vranje-based ”Vodovod” and public company ”Srbija vode” indicates  completion of the works on accumulation ”Prvonek”, which should solve the water supply problem of Vranje. By that contract the State obliged to provide 70% and local self-management 30% of planned means. According to present dynamics, one of the biggest dams in Serbia will be finished by the end of June 2005.

This dam will solve water supply problem on the territory of Municipality of Vranje for the next hundred years. Its maximal capacity is 23 million cubic meters of water. At the same time, it will provide continued inflow of 550 liters of water per second. The Banjska river and the Gradašnica river empty in the accumulation and it should be filled in about three months. Accumulation ”Prvonek” costs 55 million USD.
