The minister of culture and informing, Ivan Tasovac, said lack of money became a good alibi for all personal mistakes and that he does not believe the situation in Serbian culture would be ten times better if we had ten times higher budget.

In his interview for NIN, he announced opening of the National Museum in Belgrade in May 2016 after 11 years, reminding that the Museum of Modern Arts will be open for visitors starting October 20, 2015.

The resource minister also announced that soon public discussions on national pensions, in line with the changes and amendments to the Law on culture will be organized which should end by the end of the year.

- There are to options to be discussed. One of them is to leave that model as utterly anachronous and the other is potential implementation of a national award with limited one-time amount. Some of the previous winners are national disgrace but national pensions cannot be taken abruptly because they are obtained right – Tasovac said.

He explained that some mistakes made cannot be fixed but that at least they do not have to repeat.

- Therefore, we will find better model to award those who really deserve through changes and amendments to the law– he added.
