French Thales International wants cooperation with Serbian Zeleznice

Representatives of multinational company, Thales International, negotiated with the management of Zeleznice Srbije (Railways of Serbia) on option to participate in the projects of Serbian railways.

The company, headquartered in France, delivers systems for traffic management and the branch office in Austria delivers railway signalization and they are present apart from Austria, in Hungary, Bulgaria, Slovenia and other countries in the region, Zeleznice Srbije announced.

The head of the Directorate for infrastructure of Zeleznica, Goran Maksic, presented to the company representatives ongoing and planned projects, presenting that the Belgrade-Nis railway modernization project comprises two-line section Gilje-Cuprija 10,5 km long.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) funds the procurement of material for rehabilitation of six sections at Corridor 10 and construction mechanization.

The assistant general manager for strategy and planning, Nena Tomovic, says that Zeleznice Srbije ae trying to reach the level of transport and technology like Austria has since we are similar when it comes to infrastructure capacities and their model is used in Slovenia and Croatia.

Deputy head of the Department for strategy and development at Zeleznice Srbije, Zoran Sretenovic, estimated that cooperation with Thales could be made with respect to revival of the Pancevo-Vrsac railway electrification project which was previously started but has not been implemented.
