Mitas expands capacities in Ruma

During the visit of the Serbian Prime Minister, Aleksandar Vucic, to Prague-based plant, Mitas announced new investments into its Ruma-based plant. It refers to expansion of production capacities for radial, agricultural and forest pneumatics. The investment will be completed in mid 2016 and after that the plant in Ruma will have the annual capacity of 35.000 tons (as for now the capacity is 16.000 tons).
Since 2010, the leading producer of off-road pneumatics, Mitas, poured EUR 12,2 m into Ruma-based plant. Mitas exports from the section into 80 countries worldwide. The biggest markets for pneumatics produced in Serbia are Poland, Russia, Serbia, the Czech Republic and Great Britain.
- Since 2008 when Mitas took over the plant in Rum, we are the biggest Czech investor in Serbia. Our investments are focused on production and storage capacities which fulfill the increasing demands - Jaroslav Cechura, GM at Mitas.
- More than 85% of production at Ruma-based plant goes to export. The key market is Russia where we see growing potential. Mitas plant in Serbia is ready to fulfill Russian market demands – Cechure added.
In 2014, Mitas ended another segment of constant investments into Ruma-based plant. A new logistics center which will support increasing demands at the markets of South Europe, East Europe and Middle East, Mitas outlined in the announcement..
Ruma-based plant was built in 1981 and Mitas took it over in 2008. Since then, Mitas has been constantly investing in the section. During 2012, it implemented expansion of production capacities for radial tractor and combine pneumatics totaling EUR 3,5 m. Mitas’Serbia-based plant currently produces diagonal and radial agricultural pneumatics.
