Esmark to take over Zelezara!

The Americans are coming back to Smederevo-based Zelezara! After U.S. Steel, which left Serbian steel plant in 2012, the city at the Danube will host a giant from Pittsburgh, Esmark.

On Tuesday, in London, the Prime Minister of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, practically agreed with the president of Esmark, Jim Bouchard,that the American company takes over Zelezara in Smederevo. In a few days, representatives of Esmark are coming to Belgrade to finalize the work.

As Novosti finds out, upon the takeover of the steel plant, not a single worker will be fired and the plan is to boost production for five and a half times.

However, legal procedure will be followed. Public call will be released and Bouchard promised to Vucic that Esmark will apply to it.

- I give you my word the job will be finished and I know you are the man who favors words – Bouchard said to Serbian Prime Minister.

The American company joined the race for Smederevo-based Zelezara in August when Jim Bouchard came to Serbia and met with the Prime Minister Vucic. The topic of the meeting was strategic partnership in the Serbian steel plant.

The Prime Minister announced last weekend stepping into the work with the American group and Bouchard during the budget rebalance for 2014, saying: " I will meet Mr.Bouchard in London, I believe we will shake hands and that it will be end of the tortures for Smederevo.".
