Eleven swimming pools, 21 toboggans, 6,500 square meters of water surface, 8,000 cubic meters of water and 5,000 visitors every day - that's how "Aqua park", entertainment center, will look like. It will be built on surface of 5 ha on Block 44 in Novi Beograd. The investors are celebrated basketball player Žarko Paspalj and Vladimir Janković. The completion of the works is expected on May 25, 2006.
Among the attractions are the longest "lazy river" in Europe, which is 405 m long, two "kamikaze" toboggans, each 20 m high, the highest on the continent and "family" toboggan, again European recorder, 132 m long. The complex will also include swimming pool with artificial waves and occasional tsunami. And while the kids are in quest for the treasure from the pirate ship or swim next to penguins in the warmest Antarctic in the world, the parents will be able to sip their cocktails in "normal" swimming pool. One of the facilities in the complex will be the biggest indoor swimming pool in Europe (1,600 square meters).
Future director of "Aqua park", who is also its creator, will be Vladimir Janković, who is also the member of World Association of Aqua Parks. Architectural project was designed by Studio "Dušan Tešić" / Office 59, whereas financial and managing support will be provided by companies "Genel" and Turkish "Polin".
Aqua park will be open during 100 summer days, from the end of May until September. The price of the ticket will be €10.
The second phase of construction includes building of tennis and basketball courts, as well as indoor swimming pools. The mascot of "Aqua parka" is likable seal with basketball ball. (Seal is the nickname of Vladimir Janković, while the basketball ball is, of course, the symbol of Žarko Paspalj)
