- With the sale of surplus electricity at real prices on the market, the Electric Power Company of Serbia (EPS) may become the market leader in the region of southeast Europe in five years – the EPS Directorate for Electricity Trade estimates.
According to the words of the Manager of that Directorate, Dragan Vladisavljević, EPS can fulfill obligation of the delivery of electricity to households, compete with the other traders for the favor of qualified buyers (large companies), and it can export the remaining quantities. He adds that the selling price of electricity on the regional market is higher than the price on the domestic market, which can make it possible for EPS to become flywheel of the development of Serbian economy.
- EPS is ready to work on the regional electricity market and to intercede in favor of the abolishment of monopoly, so that it could fight for its buyers on the domestic market – Vlaisavljević explains.
When the needs of the households in Serbia are satisfied, Vlaisavljević adds, the surplus electricity can be sold abroad. He points out that everything must be carefully planned, so that the electricity could be exported to the countries in the region. The most adequate form of trade involves stock exchange offers. EPS wants to provide access to all European electricity stock exchanges.
At the moment, the most dominant is the stock exchange in Leipzig, but our power supply company finds stock exchanges in Austria, Hungary and Romania especially interesting.
